Covid-19 pandemic has devastated the world with as many as 210 Countries and Territories around the world have reported a total of 2,252,370 confirmed cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 that originated from Wuhan, China, and a death toll of 154,322 deaths. India has reported the number of positive coronavirus cases in at 14,425,14,425 with death toll at 488. It is needless to say that this tragic, devastating moment will be remembered in the history as one of the most tragic & dramatic era in the history of all times. While our elders describe the present crisis as the beginning of an end of an era which they had never seen in their lifetime, the present generations (ourselves) are experiencing this house arrest (Lockdown) as the one & only remedies that we can save ourselves. We are not yet clear what will be in future post this event. One thing is clear, the world will not be the same that once we lived. We have seen two world wars in recent times of our memory, now this COVID-19 situations without any war, arms, ammunition & nuclear do present a world that the only way to live in this world is through co-existence without any hatred. The IMF expects growth in Asia to stall at zero percent in 2020 – the worst performance in 60 years – with China’s growth declining from 6.1% in 2019 to a projected 1.2% this year. IMF projects India’s growth rate at 1.9% in 2020, forecasts global recession due to Covid-19. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday once again stepped in to protect financial stability and arrest an economic meltdown, even as the central government is still silent on the need for a comprehensive economic package. There is however no clarity as to how these initiatives are going to work?. Thankfully, there are no political dramas that dominated the news headlines every day with state after state experiencing the wheels of power changing. The real concern however is the road ahead post COVID-19. Will the life be the same as it used to be?. What about the youth of india who are looking to start their new life with a dim chance of employment opportunities. What about the start-ups who took the risks to think big. Satya Brahma*.
